Are you a spiritual seeker struggling with psychological issues?
Do you find yourself at a crossroads in life?
You’ve come to the right place.
I help practitioners of all traditions (including none), identify, address, accept and heal the challenging material that arises on the path of practice. This includes old wounds, cast-away parts, personal/familial/ancestral trauma, shocking memories, conditioned patterns, and all the icky bits we’d so happily transcend, given the opportunity. But if the road ultimately leads us to wholeness, we aren’t going to realize it by excluding any parts of ourselves. That’s where this work comes in; this is what I’m here to help you do.
Welcome to Deep Light Therapy
I’m Carlin Sundell, Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor.
I am also a seeker/practitioner/lifelong explorer of the spiritual dimension of life. I bring the gifts of spiritual and religious traditions, as well as being a fully licensed therapist (California #17570) to utilize in my practice. It has been my experience that following any real practice or path will eventually unearth stored material in the deeper layers of our subconscious, and this can be very challenging when it surfaces. Spiritual teachers are not always well-equipped to guide students facing old traumas and deeply imbedded psychological patterns. I offer helpful tools, such as EMDR to address and integrate this material. As my teacher says, the spiritual path and the psychological path are intertwined, and we can only follow one so far before running into the other. It is at this rich and dynamic juncture where I practice. If this sounds at all helpful to you, reach out - it would be an honor to be of assistance.
Your life, all of your life,
is your path to awakening.
By resisting or not dealing
with its challenges, you
stay asleep to Reality.
~ Adyashanti
Coming into contact with our subconscious salvage yard can be shocking, disorienting, and deeply troubling. And it very often requires a whole-hearted effort from us to effectively address. This therapy goes consciously into that realm; listening, addressing what needs to be addressed, healing what wants to be healed, in a loving and clear-sighted way.
Ultimately, our wounds are not to be avoided -- they are dharma gates in and of themselves; extraordinarily rich and full of transformative potential.
Loving attention brings everything to Light
Clients I work with report getting to the core of issues that have plagued them for years, if not decades. You can expect laughter, tears, challenging moments, breakthroughs, being with hard feelings, and seeing things in a new light. All in a warm and safe container where you get to be fully you. It’s been described as “beyond nonjudgmental”, a place where all things are deeply seen as they are.
This is often good hard work, and most people would rather avoid any kind of direct contact with their pain. I get it – I tried that approach too. But if avoidance was truly working for you, you likely wouldn’t be reading this right now. And I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t know a way through, and better yet, the tremendous gifts that await when we finally stop running and turn to face our darkness.
You don’t have to do it alone.
If the time has come…
Let’s Begin
